To also expand my resources and share information with other professionals in different countries, I researched the UNICEF website. There are UNICEF affiliates in many countries. I chose to research one country which is Palestine. It is very sad to see that in Palestine poverty forces children to choose between survival and school, and that a school Al-Kaabneh school Located in a Bedouin community is composed of six shipping containers. They provide the school’s 70 students with little protection from the heat or cold, and they lack proper sanitation facilities. The school has only one functioning toilet, offers no library or computer lab and has no schoolyard where children can play. I contacted the UNICEF representatives in Palestine through mail; I hope that I will get a response from them.

This sounds very interesting; however, I am sadden by the conditions that the children have to exist in. I am looking forward to reading your posts in the next couple of weeks. I hope you are able to make contact with someone. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteBouthaina, I hope that you will receive a response from your contact soon. I would be interested in knowing how school is managed in such destitution and lack. Whenever I hear of places that have such economiccal challenges it makes me sad, but thankful to God for His provisions. It is somewhat embarrasing to think that such things as functioning toilets, computers, and room to play are considered as BASIC needs, when they are literally luxuries in other countries.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post.
