The Global Alliance for the Education of Young Children provides an opportunity for early childhood associations from countries throughout the world to distribute materials and share information about programs and services, so that members of the participating organizations will have access to a greater range of early childhood resources. The information on the site that is relevant to my current professional development is the resources section and the for families section.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) understands how important a child’s education and development are to parents and families, which is why the families section is devoted to the families. All the resources developed in this section are to support families in their early childhood education and parenting needs. In this section parents can learn how to make the right choice for their kids, and the importance of and how to find an NAEYC Accredited program in the area where they live.
In the resources section, I read an article about the importance of play for young children. The main things that I learned from this article is that “Children also need caring and knowledgeable adults to guide and be a part of their play experience and adults have an important role in promoting and facilitating children’s play as a vehicle for learning. Developmentally appropriate practice (DAP), an approach to early childhood education based on research in human development and learning, incorporates play among other strategies” (NAEYC).
NAEYC also offers many resources on play and developmentally appropriate practice for educators, families, and all those interested in children’s healthy development and learning.
Neuroscientists help support this site because there is a section on the site about latest researrch regarding children brain development and all research and projects to get children to become lifelong learners. In the resources section, there is also a section about public policy that politicians support, it talks about different policies that pertain to early childhood development and it provides data from federal, state and local governmental agencies about children and families, early childhood education programs, and publicly-funded programs.
This website provides resources for early childhood professionals to improve their practice through professional development, allowing them to grow in the field.
I learned a lot from searching this website, what I likes the most is the link “ great books for teachers”, there is a list of great books for teachers that help them improve their teaching practice, and also the tips and ideas on how to foster relationships with families.
