NAEYC Code of Ethical Conduct and Statement of Commitment
Ethical Responsibilities to Children
Ideal I-1.1- To be familiar with the knowledge base of early childhood care and education and to stay informed through continuing education and training.
One of the main reasons why I wanted to continue my education further in the field of early childhood is to become a better teacher and to better serve children and their famlies. It is very important for all teachers to stay current and up to date in their field to be able to help children.
Ethical Responsibilities to Families
Ideal I-2.1- To develop relationships of mutual trust and create partnerships with the families we serve.
Building positive relationships with parents is very important for the child's success in school. Early childhood educators should listen to families and learn about their values and culture. They should also encourage them to participate in the program in order to help them better nurture and raise their children.
Ethical Responsibilities to Colleagues
Ideal I-3A.2- To share resources with co-workers, collaborating to ensure that the best possible early childhood care and education program is provided.
It is important for early childhood educators to collaborate with each other and exchange resources and ideas that help them in their teaching.
Your choices have reflected a triangle of support to your work:
ReplyDeleteethical responsibilities to . . .
1. Children
2. Families
3. Colleagues.
This shows that you are well rounded in your concern to maintain a level of professionalism that effects every corner of the relationships you establish as an early childhood professional. I can see that the resources that we read this week have helped you to focus in on your priorities.
I agree with you that it is important for early childhood educators to collaborate and exchange ideas. Collaboration promotes intellectual companionship, stimulates creativity, ensures effective use of an individual's talent and area of strength, and allows for cross fertilisation of ideas and transfer of knowledge and skills.
