I chose to review the Early Childhood Australia website (http://www.earlychildhoodaustralia.org.au/). This site offered a vast amount of information regarding early childhood education and care. The Early Childhood Web Directory covers very important topics regarding children’s well being and development and has links to hundreds of fact sheets and articles that could be a great resource for teachers, parents, and caregivers. I found the Resource Themes link very informational, there are many topics that can help teachers, parents and educators in helping children make the transition from child care to preschool and from preschool to school.
In the early childhood news section, one media release report caught my attention “Quality childcare more important than cost” on the date of October 2011, it shows the results of a poll which found 92 per cent of Australians think quality of early childhood education and care is more important than cost. This poll tells us that there is a great demand for high affordable quality early childhood education and that governments are required to focus all their efforts to improve early childhood education and care and make it affordable to all families. I find this information very interesting as here in the United States we have the same request from families; they all want high quality child care education at affordable costs.
I read a very interesting research article: Capturing the moment using the digital photography in early childhood environment. It talks about the importance of digital photography for the early childhood field and how teachers can use them to document learning and create engaging and motivating resources for children. It is really a great resource, I advise everyone to read it. I found this website very informational, because it helped me to learn about early childhood education in other parts of the world.
Hi, I chose the same site but I didn't review that section I guess that is something new for cost not to be a factor but is great that they put education first especially since early childhood profesional often get paid less. The camera information was interesting to read as well and I will add this to my favorites thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYou are right that parents in the US want many of the same things that parents in other countries want. Top of the list is high quality, affordable education. It is a shame that many in the US, as well as other countries, do not have that option. It is a struggle for most families to afford any kind of care, much less be choosy in the program.
ReplyDeleteGood Post!
