When I Think of Research

What insights have you gained about research from taking this course?
This course helped me to better understand the research process. Research is not an easy thing to do and so many factors must be analyzed in order for it to work properly.

In what ways have your ideas about the nature of doing research changed?
After taking this course, I feel that my ideas about the nature of doing research have changed. I feel that it is easier for me  to understand research than before, I know what the research terms mean, and  I understand each step of the research process. Before, I used to skip the methodology part and jump right away to the conclusion. Now, I enjoy reading the methodology and understand what qualitative and what quantitative studies mean and when they can applied.

What lessons about planning, designing, and conducting research in early childhood did you learn?
Through this course, I learned the importance of planning and knowing the objectives of the studies conducted before proceeding with any other step. The design of a study and the methods to gather the data are dependent on the objectives and the purpose of the study.

What were some of the challenges you encountered—and in what ways did you meet them?
The challenges for me in my research simulation were deciding on which sampling to use.  I had a very difficult time thinking which sampling to use to get the data needed.

What are some of the ways your perceptions of an early childhood professional have been modified as a result of this course?
The more I am taking courses, the more my respect and admiration to the early childhood professionals are growing. Early childhood professionals work really hard and most of the times they don’t get the credit for all that they do. They should be more respected and their work should be more recognized, because they do a lot not only for children, but for the benefit of this society.
